Yes there are accidents and then there are defendants' plausibly non-malicious f-ups.

You could wonder if those OpenAI guys have that Johnny Cash monster hit "I Walk the Line" in their playlists.

The song's lyrics discuss resisting temptation, being accountable, and remaining faithful to Vivian Liberto during his first marriage. However, Johnny and Vivian divorced, and he married June Carter. Liberto would write a book called I Walked the Line about her time with Cash.

Honestly... these glimpses of AI developers trying to get their creature to fly before they can even manage to cadge instructions on how to crawl from one end of the man-cave to the other are like B-roll outtakes from a straight-to-streaming comedy.

Maybe they should move the whole megillah into the kitchen and let the Silicon Vally women give it a whirl.

I’m certain that’s how the AI true believers in the tech press will frame it. They get a lot more clicks for “new AI thingie!!!” than for “maybe this AI stuff isn’t all that…”

I agree.In a nutshell, it’s not really AI because there’s no thinking going on. All choices are made based on all algorithms…

However, if you want to get biological, you might argue that we’re just advanced biological entities using our biological algorithms to make choices. 😉
