Elon Musk Closes Deal - Owns Twitter

Yet another idiot who does not understand freedom of speech, private platforms and freedom of association.

Musk has decided to not join Twitter's board.

I guess he didn't like that he would be limited to a 14.9% stake. Sounds like he is going for full control.

I started reading Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance - 17% done so far. My wife and I hopped on the Tesla train (used) in February - but not because we like Mr. Musk. I can't imagine what it's like to have that much power/control/$. lol.

Never liked twitter. I grew up reading news from a newspaper. The idea that something would bother me to get my attention never took a hold in my life. (First thing I do with an Apple Watch/iPhone is turn off ALL notifications).

My first thought when this hit the news - will they let Trump back?

Uh-oh.

I wonder if poison pills are still a thing. Twitter needs to make a takeover extremely unattractive.

He has a history of breaking rules and getting the SEC on him for it. I bet they will come a-knocking again.
Yes, but he gets a little slap and nothing of consequence. He behaves like the rules don't apply to him, because that's been proven time and time again - rules just don't apply to him. If you fine someone 10,000 when they made 100,000,000, then the fine is just the cost of doing business. Clearly he chose to ensure that the brokerage acting on his behalf did not disclose within the stipulated period, so that he could keep buying shares at a lower rate. The only punishment would be for the government to seize all of his twitter shares without compensation... that would make people like him stand up and take notice. As it stands ,the SEC has no teeth against someone like Musk.

Well, it's looking like a done deal. 😡

Personally I don't see the logic of adopting a poison pill defense and then throwing yourself at him. Guess the money was just too much to resist.

I'm not on the platform and definitely won't be now. I'm sure almost every freak who's been banned from Twitter will be returning, though. Hurray for disinformation and propaganda.

I doubt anything can or will be done to stop this. Sometimes the government will object to one of these schemes, but I'm not sure what their basis would be. Except that he's making the platform his own personal plaything.

Time for some other smart entrepreneur to come up with a competitor. Unlike Trump's "Truth", a Twitter rival would probably work. There are a lot of people who can't stand Musk who will leap at the opportunity to move to another platform.

According to MR, this is going to usher in a golden age of free speech for all and wokeism will finally be defeated. 🙄
