For once, my mood is good this evening.

Exit polls suggest that tonight will see a Labour landslide.

At present, I am sipping a beer, (Helles Original, from the German Weihenstephaner brewery), and have a bowl of crisps (chips, to our Transatlantic Cousins) to hand.

In 1997, we experienced (with delirious joy) what we remembered as "the Portillo moment" - in other words, the moment when the declaration occurred when the then Tory Defence Secretary, Michael Portillo, lost his seat.

Tonight's election - with many unhorsed Ministers and members of the outgoing Cabinet - has just furnished us with our "Portillo Moment".

This has happened with the declaration that Jacob Rees-Mogg, the far right "Hon Member for the 18th Century" from the Conservative Party, has just lost his seat (to the Labour Party).

Happiness.

Delirium.

Joy.

And bravo, and so well done, Keir Starmer.

There's also Count Binface, (previously Buckethead) who's a refreshing change...

He stands regularly and his 2024 policies can be found here.

I particularly like numbers 1, 5, 11 and 22.

My favorite is a policy from his 2019 manifesto: "Piers Morgan to be zero emissions by 2030."
He got a question about it when he sat down for an interview at the Independent, and he had a pretty good answer.
