Hunter Biden case reaches finish line, then doesn’t; Trumpers still cry foul

This really does qualify as extenuating circumstances.

Because everyone ( I do mean everyone ) knows in 45 world, everyone he doesn't like & says so are guilty of the most heinous crimes even when not proven.

Hunter's case is made even more weird, by what he's charged for even repubs thinks is B.S.

Let's also be completely honest. If Jared was under suspicion of anything, does anyone believe that 45 would still appoint a special counsel to investigate, or just say it's "fake news"? Hunter was put into the circumstance because his father wanted demonstrate he was the antithesis of the last guy in office. Made a deal, then it got blown up, only to face consequences that no other citizen would face.

I say Biden pardons everyone who's ever ( I mean like if Jack Smith stopped by to say 'Hi' one day, everyone ) walked into the WH while he was in office, right down to the wait staff. Then watch repubs suddenly hate pardons & show their asses as they try to circumvent them.

My bad:

Yes, accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt. But who cares? He already had a deal that got blown up. Whether that deal included no admission of guilt, you know he's presumed guilty just because of his last name now.
The game has changed. The norms are already out the window and the only thing we can 100% conclude is that they are not coming back, and pretending that they still hold is just stupidity. Also, nobody will give any *relevant* fucks about the pardon. Biden always does what he *thinks* what the right thing is and while his presidency is ending, his fatherhood isn't.

Trump nominates criminal family members that he pardoned to be ambassadors, but Hunter Biden is somehow the top story.

The Hunter pardon doesn’t affect me or 99% of other Americans. The appointments of known criminals to high-level positions in the government might actually affect a lot of people! Just getting really sick of traditional media. But social media is even worse, so.. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure what fascinates me more about the Hunter Biden situation.

The division it's caused

The rationalizations that THIS pardon will somehow justify ( this also involves ignoring previous behavior from almost four years ago ) 45's behavior in the future.

Or trying to reach so far in an effort to condemn this action, but instead just showing yourself

Hunter was clearly targeted since 45's 'Ukraine' days & it never stopped. 45 made sure he got all his cronies & the supremes make the presidential office a power unto itself, now he & others are crying when Biden does the same to protect his son from a raging vindictive asshole? I'm sorry, but no. Someone should also start worrying if any rumors start floating about Seal Team 6 getting ready to operate on US ( Florida ) soil. After all, if you're going to destroy the norms for your own ends, there shouldn't be any crying when others don't follow the norms you wouldn't.

Rachel Maddow had an interesting comparison about the story of Lester C Hunt, to Biden, and it drives home the need for pardoning his son.

For years (decades?) they have let right-wing faux fury dictate the topic of the day, every day. Crime? Oh we better look into that! Immigrant mobs burnings cities to the ground? Better find where that’s not happening…. And on and on.

Everybody should completely ignore everything coming from the right-wing echo chambers, and let it all die on the vine. Because as soon as real news outlets start to investigate, you see the idiots pile on with “even CNN is covering this, it must be TRUE!” Even if they just completely debunked it.

Ignore the toddlers or they will never stop having temper tantrums.

Just scroll back in this thread to recall how we got here: A Trump-appointed judge refused to honor a plea deal agreed to by prosecution and defense. I just saw in The NY Times a piece that was straight-up Fox News misdirection and 🐂💩. “Judge Scuppered Hunter Biden Plea Deal, Not Political Pressure” Oh really? Maryellen Noreika saw a case of a random citizen, accused of writing the wrong thing on a form to buy a gun, and not paying his taxes, which he subsequently DID pay… and decided NOT to allow a plea deal that would have saved the state a lot of money and given an appropriate punishment to a nonviolent person who is no threat to the community? REALLY?!?!?! If The NY Times wants to point out it was the judge’s decision, fine. But pretending that politics wasn’t the motivating factor is a blatant lie. Or do they want us to believe they are so naive that they think that Trump judges are somehow apolitical?!?!?!?!?!? LOL

PLEASE PLEASE hold Donald Trump to these same standards or all of them need to GTFO forever. But we already know they won’t, despite having every opportunity to have done so.

PS - John Bolton still holds the title for worst person in the world.

Nate silver has legendarily bad takes😀

Here’s my take: avoid any behavioral analysis from People who still think that Hunter’s pardon would change Trump’s behavior, or that it would matter at all?!😀

Dems being vocal about this but not showing up to vote is the ultimate form of virtue signaling. Republicans don’t care as long as their white supremacy and groceries remain in arms’ reach.

I have seen supposedly liberal “protest” voters whining about this. The idiocy was astounding. One person was whining “if he could do that, why didn’t he cancel student debt?” Uh, what? He literally did, but courts sided with big money interests (as they’ve been doing for decades) and blocked it. Can these people really be that ignorant? If so, the GOP war on education has already been a great success.

Yup. It’s time to retake the narrative.

Can't wait to see the formation of the first insurrectionist government of the US of A.🙂

Herr Drumpf hasn't even gotten coronated reinaugurated yet, and these folks are already tapping out. Can't wait for over half of this cabinet to be run by deputies.

I’ve gotta give the guy credit for realizing he’d be in way over his head. Too bad most of these other terrible picks have no such compunctions…

I'd apply Foccem's razor here: never attribute to self-awareness that which is adequately explained by skeletons in one's closet.

That could be true indeed. Trump is the type of guy (I’ve had bosses like this before too) who takes any advice as a challenge to his authority. So, if somebody said “maybe don’t pick Matt Gaetz” or “Don’t you think we should vet these picks first?” He would go as hard as possible to pick the person about whom there were serious concerns.

Clearly nobody vetted Justice Kavanaugh, but then the Senate decided to confirm the sexual miscreant anyway. So Trump probably figures they will approve anybody, and sees the vetting process as a sign of people questioning his perfect judgment.

Which brings me to my last point: a lot of people who voted for Trump did so because they would act the EXACT same way if they got into a position of power.

To paraphrase Michael Che: “I’m sure your [time to do the same] is coming soon [too], Earl!”

Maybe we could just call this new razor Felon's razor?😀

He'd have hung in there though if the press hadn't hammered on his having arrested a preacher for disobeying a lockdown during covid. Floridians already got over it but other R congress critters got all fired up...
