Some guy created a website that links to all NYC traffic cams and helps people take selfies using them. Seems like a pretty cool and fun idea!

But NY city didn’t like that and sent him a cease-and-desist letter. Well…

Artist Morry Kolman made a website called Traffic Cam Photobooth that lets people take “selfies” using publicly-available feeds from traffic cameras. The New York City Department of Transportation sent him a cease and desist letter demanding he cut it out. In response, he kept the site online and held the letter up to a traffic camera, according to Kolman’s posts on social media.

Poaching Attempt Backfires – Washington County (NY) - Dec 14, 2024

The scene: three guys from Vermont crossed over into NYS looking to shoot a deer. When they saw one, the driver tried to shoot it from inside the car. He shot himself in the hand trying to pull the gun back in when a truck pulled up behind them. The bullet also exited the vehicle. They went back to Vermont and tried to claim the whole thing happened there but then admitted it happened in NY. The Vermont officials turned all the info over to NYS Dept of Conservation.

Upshot: shooter happened to be a convicted felon so was charged with five counts related to possession and illegal use of a firearm. He spent five days in the hospital to recover from shooting himself. The other two guys got a total of seven tickets related to the incident.

Message: maybe stick to burgers and fries, you can even catch those without packing heat.
