Would it be possible to increase the attachment size limit? Tried to upload a 3MB picture and it said it was too large.

Ok. Fair enough.Default size is 1 MB. This has already been increased to 2 MB. It would be lovely to increase it further, but a bit wary, purely because it will increase costs by nearly 50% to go the next tier. We'll monitor the site's usage and consider this.

I was just trying to upload a photo I took on my phone. I didn’t really consider resizing it or anything. I also didn’t know that increasing the size limit would increase the cost of running the forum.Just curious and in no way meant against @Runs For Fun , but why do photos shared here need to be so large? Especially if it impacts costs?
Concur with @Runs For Fun - I had the same issue.Just curious and in no way meant against @Runs For Fun , but why do photos shared here need to be so large? Especially if it impacts costs?
Gotcha. Thanks for enlightening me. I always upload from my Macbook so didn't realize what happens when uploading from your phone. There must be some kind of app to reduce file size? But it may be moot if TPTB can accommodate your request. 🙂I was just trying to upload a photo I took on my phone. I didn’t really consider resizing it or anything. Yeah I found the thing about the Shortcut. I also found this app as wellI am not sure about the iPhone, but I use Preview on a Mac and then scale the resolution down. You can see here https://thesnug.space/threads/spring-has-sprunged.6/post-862. (click on them for full size)
So a 4 MB picture at over 4000 x whatever resolution becomes a 1800 x whatever resolution and the result is 1 MB. I then exported them as jpeg at half quality and they are around 700 KB each and they still look good, imo.
It's not like anybody can really tell the difference on a forum, imo. Now I am curious if reducing the size is possible directly on an iPhone... looks like you can create a new automation thingie using Shortcuts. I'll muck about with it when I have some time and maybe put together a little post explaining how to use shortcuts.
Edit: I've created a little tutorial on how to use the Shortcuts app to get around this problem quickly and easily.
How to: Resize photos on an iPhone and iPad using Shortcuts
Step 1 (optional) Go into Photos, then Albums and create a new album called "Resized", or something else. This step is optional, but I find it convenient to easily locate the resized images when I want to use them later. Step 2 Open Shortcuts and click the "+" to create a new shortcut.
