Israel and Palestine at war again

"Biden could maybe have done more". Lol. Understatement of the century. Biden didn't want to do more. Because he's a lifelong Zionist.

I know you won't read this and will just eye-roll, but here it is nonetheless 😉
I read it and my eyes rolled so hard that I almost lost them.

Maybe somebody can explain to me the point of whining about Biden when Trump is literally calling for purging all Palestinians from Palestine.

The only thing I can think of is people trying to justify allowing Trump to win because "Biden was bad too."

Nuance is lost. History is lost. All that matters is "I'm mad at Biden" and nothing else matters. No wonder MAGA was so successful with "F your feelings." So many people are so caught up in their feelings that they allowed a Nazi to win so they could pat themselves on the back for supposedly standing up for Palestine.

Why aren't these "heroes" out in the street RIGHT NOW protesting against Trump's calls to ethnically cleanse Palestine? Guess their fifteen minutes of caring expired.

Man, this is so fucking weak. I can't list a single Democratic US president of my lifetime whose presidency had ever come close to justify Drumpf Zwei. We are through Biden, you should get over it too. Your ideology made the bed for Trump, now lay in it proudly.

Maybe we need to play him the tape of his inaugural address?

After years and years of illegal and unconstitutional federal efforts to restrict free expression, I also will sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America.

The US’s hands are drenched in Palestinian blood. This is not to imply that there are no bad Palestinians. Yet all Palestinians have been under Israell’s thumb for decades. It can reach a point where you want to kill your oppressors, but this is no excuse for what Hamas started. Bottom line, it’s a tragedy and a huge mess.

I can’t excuse Israel’s attitude that “if we kill a 1000 citizens and get 1 terrorist, that’s ok.” This is how they operate. Israel leadership has broken bad, we aided and abetted them, only slowing them down just a little.

Yet, like or hate Biden, Harris I believe would have been better, and Trump is definitely worse. The people who wanted to punish the Democrats were clearly to myopic or decided martyrdom would be good for the US by enabling a shitbag to tear us apart and ironically they made things definitely worse for Gaza and the Palestinians. So if you withheld your vote for Harris, as a support Gaza moral choice, you can stop patting yourself on the back.

This is not a criticism of media, but I just hit the landing page of the Washington Post to see what I'd missed while making a concerted effort to avoid the news today.... As I scrolled down, I felt like I was looking at the Onion because of Trump's latest pronouncements re rebuilding of Gaza and removal of Palestinians.

The guy behind the Resolute desk is off his rocker trying out unfettered power fantasies. He'll end up with a fatwah on his head the way he's carrying on.

Does he think he's talking from strength when his government is flying by exec order, agencies are in disarray over prospect of losing staff, a distracted ass-kissing majority party is operating from its knees in Congress, our allies are all wound up over idea of dealing with Trump's picks for defense, DNI, FBI, nat sec, DHS, all the rotten picks Trump made that a GOP Senate fawns over as if they're playing for some other team somewhere.

Talk about soft targets. Hope someone's actually standing on the walls tonight and not just chasing after chicken-catchers and tomato-pickers to help ICE make its nightly quota to keep Stephen Miller happy.

I tried avoiding the news today. Then my husband said "Check out what your president just announced!" 🙄Not looking forward to the news the rest of this week. Especially since there is so little pushback by Congress, especially from Democrats.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the United States “will take over” the Gaza Strip — possibly with the help of American troops — while the Palestinians who live there should leave, a stunning proposal that would dramatically reorient the Middle East and subject a population of more than a million to further displacement.

“The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said during a joint press conference alongside his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, later describing his vision for the area as a new “Riviera.”

“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings,” he said.

#Letsgobrandon, #Bidensfault #fuckjoebiden #genocidejoe #wesavedpalestine

OK, now, where are those student demonstrations again? Or forceful deportation is OK as long as the bombs aren't falling anymore?

Pathetic.

It’s sad that some of you are only now pretending to care about Gazans just because Trump is saying wacky things. You had a whole year of Biden supporting genocide and only now that Trump promises to turn Gaza into the US and Israel’s playground does it become apparent how awful what happened in Gaza under Biden really is. Trump could not promise to do this unless Gaza had been razed to the ground, which it was, under Biden. Trump can certainly make things worse, but Biden set the stage for this, and I will not blame Palestinian Americans in Michigan, say, who did not want to vote for the party that was currently massacring their families.

Democrats thought carrying out a genocide was more important than winning an election. Now they’re seeing the fruits of that effort. I hope it was worth it.

This election there was a clear choice as sucky as it was. By sitting out, you enabled Israel to finish the job, and maybe as far as you’re concerned it was too late anyway, so we deserve what we get, along the lines of the the US in name only, an authoritarian state, or civil war and the dissolution of the USA. So be it. You’ll be suffering along with the rest of us. Maybe martyrdom feels good from your perspective.

I'm not going to relitigate who's to blame for the Democrats' loss. But they didn't lose because a Californian voted for Jill Stein.

Yes, "too late anyway" expresses my view, in a sense. When Trump won in 2016 it was too late then, and many failed to understand the significance of the moment.

My point is that the genocide in Gaza doesn't just become a problem now because Trump is in power. It's been a problem. Frankly, it's been a problem since before October 7th, 2023. If nothing else, maybe more Democrats will see just what the cost of the Israeli-American alliance is now that Trump is the one calling the shots. It's harder to criticize when it's "your guy" doing it.

How many Palestinian Americans do you know in Michigan? I actually know quite a few (as you may have figured it out based on my numerous previous posts). They aren't being blamed. People who feel entitled to who speak in their names are.

I know several Palestinian and Arab Americans who chose not to vote for Kamala because of the Democrats' support for Israel. They did not vote for Trump. One couple I know lives in Michigan, one is from Chicago, and the rest I know live here in the Bay Area. One of my closest friends (his dad grew up in Gaza) had family who were forced to evacuate. He did not vote for Kamala either, even though he is much more of a committed Democrat than I ever was.

All Americans share culpability in what happened in Gaza. It's our government, it's the leaders we voted for, it's the alliance that we've supported for decades. We don't get to wash our hands of it just because Trump is bad. Neither candidate in the 2024 election made stopping the killing in Palestine a priority. Both ensured that their support for Israel was ironclad.

This is rude and uncalled for IMO. Whatever your choice in November, it’s highly offensive to tell others that they don’t care about genocide.

Many people who care deeply about this told you a Trump presidency would be worse. Maybe you disagreed with that. But the reason for the vote was not support of genocide. It was a specific choice to hopefully prevent it from getting worse.

PS - 2/3rds of Muslim Americans voted for Harris (source: AP vote cast). I guess they support genocide in Palestine too?
