It’s alive, some might say it thrives in certain parts of the country. This from some people who hold, maybe now held Country Government positions in Oklahoma.

The McCurtain Gazette-News released portions of an audio recording following a March 6 county commission meeting in which Clardy, Manning and Jennings appear to discuss reporters Bruce and Chris Willingham. Jennings tells Clardy and Manning "I know where two deep holes are dug if you ever need them," and the sheriff responded, "I've got an excavator."

Jennings also said he's known "two or three hit men" in Louisiana, adding "they're very quiet guys."

In the recording, Jennings also appears to complain about not being able to hang Black people, saying: "They got more rights than we got."

I'm not sure why Boston felt the need to remind everyone of their history with racism, but they went for it...

Members of the Pioneers Run Crew say while running in the Boston Marathon Monday, their cheer zone was blocked off by an overwhelming police presence, according to The Boston Herald. Supporters posted the scene to social media criticizing the officers for racist policing.

If you’ve ever been to a marathon - particularly, when you know someone who is running - you anticipate the moment they turn your corner so you can stretch out your hand for a high five of encouragement. At the 2023 Boston Marathon, the Pioneers Run Crew had their own cheer zone set up with supporters at Mile 21 - where the run becomes the most challenging. Social media videos showed the scene within the cheer zone where DJs played music, people were on the grill and others waited for the running members to pass by so they could call out in support.

Mike Remy, a Pioneers Run Crew member, told Buzzfeed News that around noon, he noticed the cheer zone was suddenly surrounded by a group of Newton police officers.

“It felt like a traffic stop. There was one cop on a bike kind of cruising back and forth. After doing about four passes, he came back with some friends,” said Remy. “It just doesn’t feel like a coincidence that the cheer zone that was policed is the cheer zone that was organized by Black and brown people.”

Some supporters took to social media outraged against how they were treated by the police officers and calling them out for racially targeting them.

To back up the claim this incident was racially motivated, another running group, November Project Boston, made a social media post about their own cheer zone up at Mile 18. Out of the thousands of spectators jumping on the course and running alongside the runners, “the only group that saw a massive police presence as a result was a group of predominantly Black and brown spectators,” they wrote.

Reasonably, large events like this will cause for reinforcement of certain safety regulations. However, it is odd that out of all the cheer zones, the cops pulled up to our cookout.

Well, the police & the marathon made the news. 👍 😡

I've said it before, hate / racism is a never ending engine that has to be fueled. If you actually gave every racist their dreams & got rid of all PoC, they would turn on their own. Because they aren't man enough, they aren't religious enough, whatever the excuse. Hate needs to fed constantly so that those using it, can continue to manipulate their more susceptible membership.

They will turn on another if given the chance, because there always has to be something wrong with another guy to justify their own bullshit.

It's amazing that when you consider how this can't be taught for fear of hurting White kids' feelings, to see how many people desperately trying to "what about" in that Twitter feed.

Remember the good ol' days when that group was "tough as nails", and wanting to F' other people's feelings? Floriduh, where supposed tough guys go to die & sink in their feelings.

GOZp bankrupt, pathetic, manipulative MFers. 🤬

Sigh

Black veterans who ask the Department of Veterans Affairs for physical or mental health benefits are less likely to get them than their white counterparts, according to new data compiled by the VA.

In fiscal year 2023, 84.8% of all Black veterans who applied for physical or mental health benefits were given assistance by the VA, compared to 89.4% of their white counterparts who applied. The VA data includes information dating back to fiscal year 2017, which shows that white veterans have had a higher grant rate than their Black counterparts every year.

On Thursday, the VA launched a new Agency Equity Team to try to figure out why health and other benefits are doled out at different rates and whether the VA can level the playing field for Blacks, women and LGBTQ+ veterans.

It was quite clear back then. The way Jan 6th unraveled is the evidence of institutional racism in the USA. The blue lives matter folk truly believed the idea that right wing white mobs will act "civilized" and thus require less force to stay peaceful. I remember my MR frenemy went into a brief existential crisis about this idea being destroyed on Jan 6th.

This 100%. In DC, everybody was told to stay off the streets. My job, which was still remote work at the time, sent messages to everybody the day before the riot not to go anywhere near the Capitol for their own safety.

I know the right-wing is spouting a message of “the FBI is attacking conservatives!” But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Sadly, law enforcement still has a huge problem with overall racial bias and also some extreme white supremacist elements in their ranks. This isn’t limited to local PDs.

They did it; they found somebody to replace Tucker Carlson.

Just as much of a 💩-head.

They aren't racist, but damn if they don't like singling out a particular group or race. I mean after all, the country has done it before, but there's one group that's been steadfastly denied over & over.

Not only do they not want any reparations paid to one group, they will go that extra 20 miles to insure no such payments ever happen. I wonder why?

A Texas lawmaker has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives to block federal funding for state or local governments that create laws to pay reparations for slavery.

H.R.4321 was introduced by five-term U.S. Rep. Brian Babin on June 23.

“American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to pay for radical, race-based ‘reparation’ payments to please the woke Left,” Babin told Fox News.

The bill has 13 co-sponsors, including other Texas Republicans in the House, and it would prohibit the federal government from providing financial assistance or bailouts to states or local counties and municipalities approving reparations laws.

“My bill ensures that government entities enacting reparation laws based on race, ethnicity, national origin, or slavery cannot receive federal bailouts,” Babin said.

The bill comes several months after Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat representing a Houston-area district, introduced bill H.R.40 to commission, study and develop reparation proposals for Black Americans. Jackson Lee introduced the bill on Jan. 9. The Hill has stalled on pulling the trigger on reparations for decades.

Babin’s bill also comes as California has finalized a proposal for reparations for Black residents. Evanston, Illinois has already paid some money to residents with its Restorative Housing Fund. The fund allocates $25,000 worth of housing improvements, mortgage assistance, or down payments to Black residents who lived in Evanston between 1919 and 1969.

Cities like San Francisco and Providence, Rhode Island are considering redress for Black residents. San Francisco has discussed $5 million one-time cash payments for residents while Providence is considering grant funding instead of direct cash payments.
Texas Republicans aren’t the only ones blocking reparations efforts. An Oklahoma judge threw out a lawsuit filed on behalf of the surviving members of the Tulsa Race Massacre on July 7, according to The Associated Press.

In 1921, more than 300 Black Americans were murdered as a white mob burned down their neighborhood in Greenwood over a false assault claim from a white woman. A lawsuit for reparations was filed on behalf of the three surviving victims in 2020, but Judge Caroline Wall dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice last Friday.

No action has been taken on H.R.4321, but it has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

This quote stuck out to me:

“My bill ensures that government entities enacting reparation laws based on race, ethnicity, national origin, or slavery cannot receive federal bailouts,” Babin said.
Somehow I bet he doesn’t see the problem with including slavery in that list.

Bank of Assholes doing the old classic of F'n with a PoC with a check

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A suburban woman fought with the Social Security Administration to get a decade's worth of back payments.

She finally won and brought the prized check to a bank. That set off a whole new battle. CBS 2's Lauren Victory looked into the situation.

Charlotte Warren received a check from the U.S. Treasury for more than $24,000 but getting that piece of paper was supposed to be the hard part. Bringing it to the bank should be a cinch, right?

"We should have had the police there to assist us with what was happening," said Shavonna, Warren's daughter.

The details of this puzzling transaction lie in a federal lawsuit claiming discrimination and other wrongdoing by Bank of America.

Warren said she brought the check to a Naperville bank branch on April 17. She went back the next day with her daughter to check on the availability of the money and got odd responses.

"I went over to the teller," Charlotte said. "She said 'No, you don't have an account.'"

Shavonna added, "There's not much to figure out. It's a government check. It's easy to verify. Her funds should be available right now."

Charlotte said the bank told her "There's nothing we can do."

"There has to be something you can do," Warren responded.

The Warrens left the bank without the check, the money, or any answers about if or when they would get cash.

Just talking about the ordeal makes Charlotte emotional.

"After fighting for it all this time, I don't have anything," she said. "You can just take it and you're OK with it?"

Remember that it's Charlotte's disabilities, which include severe asthma, that led to that large check. She also told CBS 2 about what a bank manager told her about a possible reason for the hold on the funds.

"The biggest one that got me was [when the manager said,] 'Sometimes they have drug deals,'" Warren said.

"Or criminal activities linked to large amounts," Shavonna said.

Making maters worse, Bank of America closed her account just days after opening it. After more than a month passed, the Warrens were still in the dark.

Where's the check? Where's the money? Why won't Bank of America return it?

That's when they got an attorney.

Charlotte's legal team, including Gail Eisenberg, tried to negotiate with Bank of America. But when the financial giant ignored them, they sued.

"We certainly believe it was intentional discrimination," Eisenberg said, adding "This is a U.S. Treasury check. So the circumstances under which a hold would have been appropriate are confounding."

"It's so frustrating to be Black in America and not be able to do simple things!" Shavonna said.

Eisenberg added, "Charlotte was put through the ringer in trying to simply get what was owed to her. She should not have to file a federal lawsuit just to get the money she's owed."

For a woman already on disability, where added stress can fuel her asthma, these last seven weeks have been a nightmare.

"I felt like I did something wrong," Charlotte said. "They made me feel like I was in the wrong ... and it's not right."

Finally, she got her money back, but it took 50 days, a federal lawsuit and CBS 2's inquiries.

Checks from the U.S. Treasury are usually available the next day, and federal rules suggest a hold is possible for up to nine days. The bank maintains its actions were "consistent with regulatory funds availability requirements," but CBS 2 could not find, and the Bank of America did not provide, any rules that allow a bank to hold a check for 50 days.

Bank of America said it regrets the amount of time it took Charlotte to get her money back. "Analytics" flagged her account and a spokesperson said those systems are in place to fight fraud.

Checks calendar, it's 2023 right?

I wasn't the only one to do a double take. On the side of those side surprised, you can see the reaction. On the side of those who don't have an issue with using "colored people" today, on twit the defense is "well there is a NAACP".

"Well, there is a NAACP". 🤦‍♂️

I looked up Representative neck-beard and he was born in 1980. So, where did he even hear that term? It fell out of favor before he was even born...
