Thread for the topic. At this point I have about 66 homekit devices in my home, 2 robot vacs, etc. Homekit is getting there but it's also pretty lame. Yesterday I was finally able to program my bedroom's smart fan to adjust speed for temp. Worked like magic, haven't had such a good sleep in a while.

The biggest hole in Homekit is the lack of dynamic scenes for lights.

I just purchased a 4-pack of Meross units, a 4-pack of SwitchBot units and a Meross (individually-controlled) 4-outlet surge protector.

I already have some nice Lutron wall switches that work-a-treat with HK.

The Meross SP is destined for my network cabinet (the capacity of which I have yet to explore).

HK is cool--and all that--but my current Geek is to get a functional HomeAssistant instance running on my new ProxMox server; with the hope that I can get a better grasp on things.

I really like to fiddle with things, and HK is not designed with fiddling in mind 😉

So Home Assistant + chatGPT is a very powerful combo. I have a set of dumb smart fans that I can remote control the speed on via Apple Home, but they never got updated with a "breeze" mode where the speed is randomly fluctuated to imitate a natural spring breeze. Low and behold, I was able to vibe code it into the fans. So, instead of wasting a lot of money (and releasing a lot of carbon) I can enjoy the fans to the fullest. Even better, it will save some electricity on the long run because instead of running the fan on speed #2, I can just fluctuate it between 0 and 2.

We have two Roomba's, but I've read that their network may be coming down "soon". We also have connected cooking thermometers, garage door openers, but don't pay the extra for their services. We have four garage door openers, but don't actually use any of them since we can open either from our phones or the external keypad.
