And off we go.

We’re still in free agency, the NFL draft is a month away…and yet we’ve already got interesting stuff going on.

Like Lamar Jackson testing the waters to see if another team will pay him what he wants, and receiving no interest.

Like some guy allegedly contacting teams on Jackson’s behalf—and he’s not actually an approved agent. (The NFL office understandably took a dim view of this.)

And then there was this. 😄

Admit it—you’ve never seen that one before! 😂

Remember the story of Jon Gruden? He resigned as coach of the Raiders 2 years ago after a number of his racist, misogynistic, and anti-LGBTQ emails were exposed. It seemed like he was done in the NFL. Wow, had the league finally taken a stance against that type of behavior?

Nah.

New quarterback Derek Carr had a familiar helping hand this past week -- former Raiders coach Jon Gruden -- as the New Orleans Saints installed their offense during offseason workouts.

The Saints brought in Gruden to help Carr and the offensive coaching staff under coach Dennis Allen, NOLA.com reported Friday.

I also want to point out that ESPN didn’t even MENTION his resignation or his disgusting behavior in their story. Like it never happened.

The Cleveland Browns rarely win their opening game of the season. The last time the Browns won their opening game at home was 2004.

Today they dominated the Cincinnati Bengals, and we are dancing in NE Ohio.

I mean, it's not like we scored 48 or 52 points. The final score was Cleveland 24, Cincy 3. But in rainy, slippery conditions, we made sure the Bengals couldn't get anything going. (Thank you, new DC Jim Schwartz.) It was so bad that by the end of the game they pulled Joe Burrow in favor of their backup quarterback, because why risk injuring him?

It's one game, but for beleaguered fans who are sick of hearing about how good their team looks on paper, it was a huge morale booster.

Patrons at a bar in Milwaukee hoping to score free drinks in the event of a Jets loss were in for a rude awakening after Xavier Gipson’s stunning game-winning punt return.

Jack’s American Pub announced late last month that it would be covering customers’ tabs whenever the Jets lost a game started by Aaron Rodgers. There are conditions, of course. Patrons have to open a tab at least 15 minutes before kickoff and the deal doesn’t cover food, but all drinks are on the house if the former Packers star’s team ends up losing.

Customers watching Monday Night Football at Jack’s were in a celebratory mood after Rodgers went down with a season-ending injury early in the Jets’ opener against the Bills. Surely Josh Allen would get the better of Zach Wilson, right? Not so fast. The Jets won the game in thrilling fashion on Gipson’s punt return touchdown in overtime, meaning the patrons were suddenly responsible for paying their own tabs.

A.J. Bayatpour of Milwaukee’s CBS 58 was at Jack’s to capture the mood during the game. Luckily, he was live on the air when Gipson scored. The result was some fantastic television.

Good lord the Giants offensive line is terrible. Daniel Jones got sacked ten times last night.

They were a bit hasty to anoint Brian Daboll as the 2nd coming last season I think. It’s going to take more than coaching to improve that team.

So during the Sunday night game between the Giants and the Bills, a huge, nasty fight breaks out.

I don’t understand how you can have four or five guys fighting and shoving each other—including Josh Allen—and not have any of them ejected from the game. Calling it offsetting fouls…that’s it? 🤨

At the very least, they should have invoked the unsportsmanlike penalty, which if you get 2 in a game, you are ejected. The Bills played quite poorly on offense. Luckily, their defense was great, and the Giants’ offense was even worse.

In other NFL news, there are no undefeated teams left this season. Both 5-0 teams, the Eagles and 49ers, lost this week.

What is going on with Josh Allen? He’s already got nine turnovers on the year, and gave up three more in the first half of tonight’s game vs. Denver. 🫣

Turnovers in the first half: Running back fumbled, wide receiver dropped a good pass, which went right to the defense, and Quarterback forced a bad throw trying to score fast at the end of the half. Allen made the one big mistake, but today’s turnovers have been a team effort.

Well, in northern Ohio we've got our own woes.

We really can't afford this in what is the most competitive division in all of football. But it is what it is.

The backup is Dorian Thompson-Robinson (colloquially, DTR), a relative unknown who looked good in preseason but who got thrown into the fire on 90 minutes notice on the one occasion he got to play in a regular season game. Sunday will be interesting.

And down goes Joe Burrow. He can’t even throw without being in a world of pain.

And then the game gets stopped because there’s a drone flying over the field. This game has everything. 😯

The Ravens seem like the top team in the AFC so far this year…
