The Trump Cesspool Thread- a place to drop misc Trump turds

Honestly everything since Citizens United decision in 2010 is part of either the Golden Age of Manipulation or else the Golden Age of Satire.

Just start with the idea of a corporation having the same right as you or I to buy as much free speech as we can each afford.

One is then tempted anew to revisit the couple of lines that underpin the entire and existentially fraught plot of the 1983 movie WarGames

Is this a game or is it real?

Every day I struggle with a new crop of hilarious occasions to wonder "Wow, should I even be laughing at that?"

In the end, this is what we all struggle with when it comes to how to deal with the idea, the meme, the reality of "Donald Trump."

It's probably why I alternate between helpless laughter over some meme, SNL skit, Randy Rainbow clip, late night TV host riff... and anxiously re-reading one of the serious tomes of irrefutable evidence that we've been laughing off prospects of monumental peril while having just "let Trump be Trump" all this time.

Maybe it's not true that Nero fiddled while Rome burned. But the USA is certainly entertaining itself down to a nadir of "democracy" while the donors to which the pols are beholden all play both Trump AND us for fools.

Take a moment today to pity Donald Trump…enduring the inhumane torture of being forced to sit still in a courtroom for eight hours a day, four days a week…

…like the judge. And the prosecutor. And the defendant’s lawyers. And the bailiff and the court stenographer. And the eighteen jurors. And the media covering the trial.

They’re all being tortured!

Donald Trump hasn’t set foot in the White House since leaving office more than three years ago, but that didn’t stop him from pretending it’s still his residence this week when he offered a visitor a key to the building.

Trump gave the baffling gift to former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, who visited him at Trump Tower in New York on Tuesday as the former president finished up a day in court in the Stormy Daniels hush money case.

Aso has a history of praising Nazis and Adolf Hitler, yet Trump called it a “great honor” to meet him. Then, he handed Aso a ceremonial key to the White House.

The Washington Post reported that Trump was fond of giving away ceremonial keys while he was president, telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he could use it to gain entry basically forever.

“Even when I’m not president anymore, you can walk up to the front gate of the White House and present it, and they will let you in,” he told Netanyahu, according to the 2022 book by Jared Kushner, who is Trump’s son-in-law and served as a White House adviser.
Just in case anyone really thinks Trump's MAGA followers are who actually matter to him...

This weekend the orange bundle of half-stifled rage is throwing an invitation-only event for wealthy donors, including some whose names are being bandied about as future cabinet heads.

The reason for this festival? Well, there's a short list of other guests on tap, namely a bunch of potential vice presidential nominees. Or people who think they're that. Or people the media think are that. Or just some people Trump wants to prank on.

The plan is to parade those possible future VPs around, have a couple of panels for them to trade ideas or something, see what the donors think, cash some checks and... have a chat about election integrity. Yeah. Election integrity. You know. The fetish that cost Trump and the GOP 60+ court cases last time they questioned election integrity. Go figure.

But because Trump loves to step on his own events, The Donald also confides that in fact he's not likely to make his VP pick any time soon and probably not until right before the GOP convention in July up in Milwaukee. He's not likely to pick any of these people either. He probably has Bannon looking out for a Pence clone. The humble servant type. Scratch that whole piece of the guest list starting with JD Vance...

So I dunno who's the bigger pile of dupes here, the wealthy donors or the VP hopefuls.

Either way, I guess any special invite to a party for the loyal MAGA rank and file will come later on, eh?

The MAGA faithful are probably just supposed to be thrilled they keep getting personalized email solicitations for campaign funds from their idol. Meanwhile he sits at his criminal trial and worries about how to pay for his attorneys and the parties this weekend and jet fuel for his campaign rallies.... and that $9k wrist-slap the judge laid on him for coming up just short of a go-to-jail-card by violating a gag order.

In a statement to the Associated Press, the Trump campaign claimed it is not a campaign video but rather a video reposted by a staffer who did not see the word.

“This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court,” Karoline Leavitt, the campaign press secretary, said in a statement.

The video was posted at 1:58 p.m. ET when the trial in Trump’s hush money trial was at lunch. The video was still up late Monday night.

Former President Donald Trump shared a video on Truth Social Monday afternoon referencing “the creation of a unified Reich” among possible headlines that would read if he wins re-election in November. Trump deleted the video sometime around 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday after receiving stark criticism.

Trump’s account posted the 30-second video on Monday where a narrator asks “What happens after Donald Trump wins?” The video goes on to show various newspaper headlines after the theoretical win, including “Border is closed, 15 million illegal aliens deported.” Another headline shown twice in the video seemed to mention a “Reich,” the Germanic word for a realm or empire, but is often considered a reference to the Third Reich regime of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. The Biden campaign quickly jumped on the reference, causing Trump’s campaign to backtrack.

“America, stop scrolling and pay attention. Donald Trump is not playing games; he is telling America exactly what he intends to do if he regains power: rule as a dictator over a ‘unified reich,’” said Biden-Harris 2024 spokesperson James Singer in a statement Monday. “Parroting ‘Mein Kampf’ while you warn of a bloodbath if you lose is the type of unhinged behavior you get from a guy who knows that democracy continues to reject his extreme vision of chaos, division, and violence.”

I guess someone realized you're supposed to go there AFTER you've lied to the public & won.

I guess someone realized you're supposed to go there AFTER you've lied to the public & won.

I wonder if Trump actually took direction when posting something like that or when taking it down, but if he did, I'd like to know who persuaded him in either case. Also I keep wondering how he retains donors or professional campaign staff.

And of course I wonder how the hell the Republican Party finds him a fit candidate for US president. Potential Trump voters need to ponder that. if and when they think about their ballot choices for other federal slots, never mind state and local ones.

Anyway it's interesting to see how this guy projects his future rule of the USA. I hope it proves to have been a delusional view...

On my worst days lately I imagine half the USA shrugging off Trump's clearly expressed blueprints for a totalitarian executive branch of the USA's federal government with "It's just Trump being Trump, pay no mind..." or "It's just a fund-raising gimmick, pay no mind..." The problem is that about 80% of the high profile people saying that seem to be Republican Party officials.
