Please don’t hate me for quoting George Orwell.I'm just confused I guess, it was discussed in some detail here on our early evening radio current affairs programme to much similar confusion by the radio host and an interview he then conducted with a White House aide (sorry, can't remember who she was, but she did seem strident and impatient) which reinforced the confusion rather than explained it. The point he kept making and I think it's a key one is that with so much video of the incident how can people who have all come to such radically and diametrically opposed views on what happened? From our limited perspective over here just about everyone I know is thinking manslaughter after seeing that video.
I get that politicians will often (always?) shoot their mouths off - but surely in cases like this there's an established apolitical protocol that has to be followed (immediate officer suspension but officer not named, evidence gathering, investigation by an independent body etc etc) - surely politics / hidden corruption can't stop that?
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
